General PurposeResponsible for maintaining systems and their
associated operating systems for computer applications. Conduct
analysis, create system specifications, develop, test, and
implement operating systems. Utilize existing or new technology in
the automation of processes. Evaluate software packages and provide
recommendations to management.Responsibilities of this position
include the following:
- Provide operational support of the Mainframe, Windows, or UNIX
systems computing environment. Responsibilities include OS and
application software installations and upgrades, backup and
recovery administration, adding/deleting users and peripheral
equipment, troubleshooting system and application issues.
- Provide technical guidance for directing and monitoring
information systems operations. Implement machine modifications to
increase capacity of the system. Compile records and reports
concerning production, machine malfunctioning and maintenance. May
advise on workflow plans, methods, and procedures analysis. Analyze
the results of monitoring the operating system(s) and recommend
changes to improve processing and utilization.
- Perform all procedures necessary to ensure the safety of
information systems assets and to protect systems from intentional
or inadvertent access or destruction. Interface with the user
community to understand their security needs and implement
procedures to accommodate them. Conduct accurate evaluation of the
level of security required.
- Monitor and respond to complex technical control facility
hardware and software problems using a variety of hardware and
software testing tools and techniques. Provides primary interface
with vendor support service groups or provides internal analysis
and support to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods
of degraded system performance.
- Provide documentation for the support of information technology
processes and procedures.
- Assist in the research and implementation of system
administration software and hardware.
- Develop programs to support application and system
operations.
- Provide technical input to assist in development of project
planning.
- Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
In addition to the above, Analyst 3 responsibilities include:
- Perform research and make recommendations for network software
and hardware.
- Provide technical recommendations for information systems
operations network environments. Implement modifications to
increase system capacity. Compile records and reports concerning
production, machine operations, and maintenance. May advise on
workflow plans, methods, and procedures analysis. Analyze the
results of performance and systems management software and
recommend changes to improve processing and utilization.
- Provide guidance and training for less experienced
techniciansRequirements for this position include the following:
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or
related technical field; or equivalent work experience. (Typically
4 years of additional related, progressive work experience would be
needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess
a Bachelor's degree. A minimum of 2 years additional directly
related technical experience is required.)
- Three years related experience in Mainframe, Windows or UNIX
operating systems support and analysis.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects
concurrently. In addition to the above, the Analyst 3 requirements
include:Five years related experience in Mainframe, Windows, or
UNIX operating systems support and analysis.Preferences
- Comprehensive knowledge and technical background with Microsoft
Windows Server operating systems, Active Directory, and Group
Policy.
- Experience leveraging a configuration management solution to
manage Windows Servers in a large enterprise environment.
- Strong PowerShell scripting skills to automate system
administration tasks efficiently.
- Familiarity with Microsoft monthly patching procedures and best
practices in maintaining a secure Windows-based operating system
infrastructure.
- BMC TrueSight Server Automation (TSSA) configuration management
tool experience is preferred.
- Virtualization technologies: Proven experience with
virtualization platforms such as VMware and Azure for efficient
management of resources, deployment, and configuration of virtual
machines in large-scale enterprise environments.
- Networking and Windows server management: Strong understanding
of networking concepts (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) as they relate to
Windows Server environments. Proven experience troubleshooting and
resolving network connectivity issues, including domain-related
problems, DNS configurations, and server-client communication
within a Windows Server infrastructure.
- Analytical and troubleshooting skills: Strong analytical skills
with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
Proven experience in troubleshooting network, server, and
application problems, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal system
performance in a Windows Server environmentAdditional
